The  Best Is  Yet  To  Come! ðŸ’–

BEGIN

This is our story!

No matter how difficult and sorrowful it may portray itself to be, the amount of resilience and fortitude we gain determines the strength to overcome it all.

WHAT PEOPLE SEE AT THE FRONT

The word 'disability' is always perceived and portrayed as something that shouldn't even be the case.

Disability is clearly defined as a continuous disadvantage that limits a person's abilities which can be physically or mentally.

However if we also look at the definition of 'limit', it simply means a weak point that is extremely hard to jump over.

To add on, if we view it from my point, there will always be things that people can't do, or actions that we can't make, for example, it may be whistling or a handstand, multi-tasking or even gymnastics which can basically be put into the category called 'talents'. We all have some and no matter the flaws we own, we all  have the unique abilities to do the things that we love.

It depends on you to focus on all your abilities and disregard your 'adversities' to do the things you enjoy because if you keep focusing on your disabilities, you will never ever be good enough because you will always consider your flaws to be a barrier against being content.

We all have flaws, the ones diagnosed by the doctors are called disabilities and that's what makes the difference.

We all have ambitions that we want to achieve. There are no limits to pursuing the dreams we desire of becoming a reality. No matter if we have a disability or not, we still have that same strength to fight for what we have passion for.

For example,

When I realised that the constant verbal bullying was never going to be put to an end, that's when I started to do things for myself to enhance my future,

That's when it came to thought that people will always talk no matter what. Thankfully I started very early precisely round year 8 along with the support from my family and friends.

I thank God for staying by my side and giving me the courage needed to be able to ignore all the irrelevant factors and focus on the strength needed to start doing things to achieve all my desires.

No matter how much people may talk, they will always do so. The more you pay attention, the more they try to break you down.

It is so hard to stop paying attention to them however once you do, they come to the realisation that you are now insensitive to others verbal abuse. It may be difficult but it's the only way to carry on doing what you enjoy.

Some people still believed that I was just "acting" strong so they still continued but I didn't care because as a Christian, I had believed that it was a test of faith from Him and I always believed He was there by my side through everything.

Despite all the trials, they turned into testimonies as I focused more on my achievements and things I enjoyed to do.

Just a bit about me:

DEMI

My name is Demilade.

I am a teenager from a Black ethnic minority, who is just like any other, trying to achieve their dreams which in my case is to bring people together to stand up for themselves and focus on their abilities rather than their flaws. I want to support and motivate others  so that they can finally be contented with the way they are and start focusing on their ambitions.

I am just an average teenage girl that is currently trying to experience the regular things that a youth should, in addition to trying to endure the hardships, struggles and tears that tag along. I'm neither really strong or really weak. Neither common or rare. I'm just a teenager who strives to do everything possible to continue living and follow her ambition with self determination and confidence . Having a disability has been a challenge in the journey of my adolescence. I have scoliosis as well as a chest wall deformity however mine in this case is called pectus excavatum.

My main reason for this website is to support other people by letting them know that they are not alone in any situation and to bring us together in gaining the confidence to face the journey of life as it comes.
